:Which Spider-Man comic is the best to get?

If you want a good "Spider-Man" story with not a lot of confusing history and baggage attached to it, get "Ultimate Spider-Man". They're about 24 issues in, but you can get the first (and possible second, if it's out) TPB, and then the rest of the issues. Even if you don't buy the back issues, it's easy to pick up on because they have a short summary of what's been going on so that new readers can get into it without any fuss.

:So I pick up anything else while I'm at it?

Well, I'm also an avid fan of John Constantine, and "Hellblazer" is definitely a good read, so you may consider it, though it may be confusing and hard to pick up on. Also, Kevin Smith's run on "Green Arrow" was VERY well done. (And I'm not just saying that because it's Kevin Smith.)

Good luck.
