: I honestly think it's one of the most underrated movies of the last few years.

Well, the film did get dumped theatrically by its distributor (I believe it was another Columbine casualty), so on that note, I guess it is "underrated". It was certainly good enough to get a decent theatrical run, and the fact that so many people have discovered it and like it so much via video makes a good case for the potential box-office it coulda had.

Like I said, I liked BOONDOCK SAINTS and think the director has a lot of talent. My dad absolutely LOVES it. I just wasn't completely gaga over it like a lot of folks are.

: I loved the story and it really got me thinking is it okay to kill people if they're bad people.

Well, there goes my argument that movies alone don't inspire violence (or violent thoughts).

: But I kind of see where you're coming from - a friend of mine told me that there's really no original ideas anymore. Everything is KIND OF like something else. I'm working on a script now and I totally agree - I think it's really original but yet very True Romance-esque.

And TRUE ROMANCE is very BADLANDS-esque. In fact, Hans Zimmer's musical score to TRUE ROMANCE *IS* the score to BADLANDS. You should rent BADLANDS, its one of my top 5 favorite films of all time, and there's a nice widescreen DVD release.
