good intentions reap very bad things.
I decided I wanted to surprise my wife at work with flowers today. I'm still not entirely sure why -- today is an ENTIRELY insignifigant day in terms of our relationship; I just wanted to send flowers. So I decided to FIND a reason to send flowers. I searched for and found a website that lists bizzare holidays for each day and week of the year, and picked out the strangest one I could find: "National Aplastic Anemia Awareness Week", an observance spanning the first week of December. That'll suffice.
So I call Lani's Love Buds and order an arrangement with half dozen red roses in a crystal vase, to be delivered to her work.
She got them about 15 minutes ago and read the card:
"Dear Jill,
Happy Aplastic Anemia Awareness Week! I hope your day is going well.
Love,
Ted"
She was chuckling to herself about the ridiculousness of my purpose for sending flowers when her boss walked by. The boss asked her what was so funny, and my wife explained -- only to find out that her boss' Mother is DYING of APLASTIC ANEMIA. Obviously, Jill's boss was upset that Jill was laughing about it. Now I'm in trouble because Jill's in trouble, because her boss' mom is in trouble.
I really really am an asshat.
