Interview with Chevy Chase from the Calgary Sun.

Does Kevin (or any reds) have a comment on it? I remember some time ago on the board Kevin remarking that there were some struggles with Chevy Chase in regards to this issue.

Several years ago, New Jersey filmmaker Kevin Smith approached Chase about reviving his Irwin Fletcher character from the Fletch movies.

"We talked but then he never called back. I can't fathom such behaviour," says Chase of Smith, whose films include Mall Rats, Chasing Amy and Dogma.

Harvey Weinstein, head of Miramax Films, also approached Chase about a Fletch film.

"Harvey wants Ben Affleck to play Fletch. First he suggested I play a minor character, but I said that was impossible because I was too identified with the character. Then Harvey suggested Ben play someone like my son and I'd be his mentor. I liked that idea, but nothing ever came of it."
