...first time in years and years and years, and I was shocked at how not-as-scary-and-terrifying-as-I-remember-it-to-be it was.
When I was a kid, that movie damn near traumatized me to the point of institutionalization, and I've always included it on my "all time scariest horror movies" lists (however much that may be worth), but viewing it now, it was just so dated and not so scary, between the music and the red and green spotlights, and the very simple plot and what have you..
The gore and tension building, and some of the framing of the shots and compostions are undeniably signature work, but still... I was amazed at how LITTLE it got to me, considering how much I remember it being a nightmare ride through hell.
Also, was that psychologist guy the same guy who later would go onto play the head-vampire that Stephen Dorff ends up killing at the beach in BLADE? If so, MAN, did he get old.
