: : I thought they shot this more than a year ago and it was supposed to go direct-to-video for a really long time, now. I mean, after 'Bride of Re-Animator' sucked as bad as it did, *and* the actor who played Dr. Hill is dead, I'm not very excited about it.
: BRIDE OF RE-ANIMATOR grows on you*. I hated it when I first watched it, but watched it again and was digging it. And, I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they got Stuart Gordon back for BEYOND RE-ANIMATOR.
If they got Gordon back, all bets are off. I hadn't heard that, I heard it was Yuzna again. I'll see it either way. In fact, I may even pop in 'Bride' today, just 'cause I need something going on while I write.
: *Somewhere around here, I have a rough-cut of BRIDE that actually opens EXACTLY AT THE MOMENT THAT "RE-ANIMATOR" ENDS! So, we see the ressurection of Meg and Herbert comes into the room and says something like, "No, Hill didn't kill me. He didn't have the guts." I forget exactly how the scene played, but after the end of the scene it jumps ahead to them in that war scenario.
I thought that was supposed to be part of the unrated version, which I never tracked down because I didn't like the rated one enough [I got it on sale at Blockbuster for like 3 bucks]. Either way, at *least* that covers the return of Herbert.
That "guts" pun doesn't sit well with me on paper, but I bet Jeffrey Combs could deliver it. And, I give them a little credit for getting themselves out of the sequel-killing corner they were stuck in with such a lame one-liner.
