I've always treated women w/the uptmost respect but have never been reciprocated in kind. In fact, I've pretty much been walked on my whole life - cheated on, blown off, etc. You all might say that the same things have happened to everyone, but there's never been a relationship I've been in (which are rare for me) where it's ended "normally". Meaning, we're not really into each other anymore & just want to end it. No....for example, I've had an ex cheat on me w/a friend of mine when we were at the same party one night ONLY because that was her way of saying she wanted to break up with me. How she could've thought my friend's "wang" in her "hey-nany-nany" behind my back is better than talking to me boggles my mind.
Maybe it's the women I've met. They seem like they're out only to please themselves & could care less about my feelings. I'm talking selfishness to the most. Because of that, the hopeless romantic in me is just about gone. I see relationships now as hard work. My romantic side only comes out w/new women I meet. Depending on how we are together, it may grow or go back down to my normal, low levels. I haven't met a woman worth my time or love. I thought I had a few times in the past, but those I could care less for now for what they did to me.
I believe in true love, but like you said, it seems like this is my destiny: "...just out for frequent, casual sex and a partner who doesnt take much "maintaining"."
Like SexyJ touched upon, I think of myself as a Robbie Hart type (from The Wedding Singer) where now I'm really becoming Barry from Punch Drunk Love.
I just need a vacation somewhere warm w/a cool chick and a hot ass. Okay....maybe the "hot ass" part was too much.
