What are all your feelings on film school? Did you go? Are you going? Where? Why? and all that good stuff.
Why am I asking? Well, I really want to go to a summer film program
for high school students this summer, even though it's an arm and a
leg to go, and at the moment I can't afford to attend one(the three I
have found that I'm interested in are all very close to the amount of
$6,500 not including any spending money/money for activities, food,
laundry, etc.), and haven't been able to find any good
scholarship-type things(as I am not going to college yet, just one of
these programs), grants, or anything of the like.
The three programs I an heavily considering are: NYU's film narrative
program(http://www.nyu.edu/tisch/specialprograms/), MSC's summer 4
week film camp(found at filmit.org), and the New York Film Academy's
summer 4 week camp(either at Princeton or the Dalton school,
www.nyfa.org). I'd also like to hear if anyone has an opinion either
way between these. NYU is where I'd like to go when I go to college(I
of course realize the very high standards they have), and I've heard
making it into their program essentially makes you a shoe-in for
getting into the school. The other two programs of course don't really have many requirements and just take you based on if you pay soon
enough.
So, I think that's about it, I'd like to hear about any scholarships
or grants you know of or could point me in the direction of if you
have time.
Thanks a lot,
Matt
Oh, and if anyone wants to throw around $7,000, I won't complain.
