Always banked the most coin?

Was there a period of time when teachers made the most money?
How about scientists?

If we value our entertainers so very much what does that say about the human race? Does it mean we value entertainment and escape from reality over everything?
Does religion count as entertainment?

Just waxin' philosphical over here...watching the clothes go round
