saw the preview a couple months ago and completely agree. The film is fun, in a cute romantic comedy type way. I usually dont really enjoy those, but Lee's presence really makes this one worth it. I think you get to understand and like the characters so much that the predictability of the plot becomes less annoying.
Still, just a 6 on the 10 scale.
one question, though... i dont know what your cut had in the way of this, but were they (once again for lee) hinting at questions about his sexuality? I was wondering what the point of the "wow that dance teacher is just so amazingly graceful" scenes were, and it was never really resolved in a satisfactory manner for me.
: Got to see a sneak preview last nite, just gimme a minute to get the image of him grabbing his crotch repeatedly outta my brain.....OK...OK...still there...OK...whatthefuck here it goes:
: I enjoyed it & laughed more than I did during Stealing Harvard.
: In the scheme of Lee flicks, on a scale of 1-10 (Stealing Harvard being a 1, Amy or Almost Famous a 10) I'd give it a 6. In the grand scheme of moviedom I'd give it a 5. He's done better, he's done worse.
: It's in there w/Kissing a Fool or American Cuisine w/less kissing.
: Basically it's a comedy chick flick, yet surprisingly w/a few gross outs for the guys, but w/gags that have been done many times before.
: Lotsa Jason, Selma was underused, Julia was a cutie. Despite the marketing of this flick, just like Kissing a Fool, this is his movie.
: And I would've gladly offered to scratch that itch he had.
: I must say though that the audience in the theatre was laughing like crazy (a little over the top laughter for my tastes but hey, they liked it & there were critics there too) & on the way out people were talking about his performance & how much they enjoyed it & him.
: I think there could've been better choices in flicks to put yourself in good standing w/Harvey Weinstein but it's way better than Stealing Harvard.
: But,I wasn't disappointed @ all. Yet that said, I wouldn't pay to see this one if he weren't in it. I would've waited for it to hit the rental market.
: Take that for what you will folks.
: Jason dear, if you're out there lurking, you still owe me $8 & about 90 minutes of your life for Stealing Harvard. I enjoyed this one but you haven't quite redeemed yourself for that one yet. I know Dreamcatcher may do it, but until then, you can owe me.

: ******** FOR THE LADIES & GENTS THAT LUST AFTER LEE ********
: ******** ALL OTHERS MAY WISH TO AVERT YOUR EYES *******
: ******** SILLY & BLANTANT LEE WORSHIP & OBJECTIFICATION AHEAD ********
: OK now for the good stuff:
: He's still got that great hairy chest that you get to see in more than one scene & get see very early in the flick too!
: He's got a couple of cute scars around his chin & lips that I never noticed before, one below his lower lip on his left & one on his chin on the right.
: He's still got great legs & those legs & chest have more screen time than they did in Harvard.
: That last kiss he gives Julia...oh if only...
: I can't wait for the DVD so I can freeze frame & zoom on some scenes
: Carry on!
