Let me tell you something about 99% of the films that are released. They do their best business on opening night (last Friday, in this case) then each day after that BUSINESS DROPS OFF DRAMATICALLY!!!
"My Big Fat Greek Wedding" happens once in a blue moon, dude. And the reason for that is that movies like that start out small and open on very few screens. In these cases, there is nowhere to go but up. But a major studio release has to kick ass, IMMEDIATELY, ie. the first weekend, or it's as dead as Gene Siskel!
I'm a big Jason Lee fan, but he'll have plenty of other opportunities to be in monster hits. The two Cameron Crowe films he's been in have done extremely well, haven't they?
