Couple of reasons:

1) I didn't like the icky statutory storyline or the implications about how women are empty-headed and/or cruel.
2) It was completely depressing and negative about life and the prospects for change. It DE-inspired me.
3) I kept expecting for the plot to actually go somewhere, or for there to be a storyline arc, and there wasn't. Enid starts out bored, doing stupid things, does some random things through the movie, nothing changes, etc. etc., the end.

I'll grant you Buscemi was great, but he made even CON AIR bearable for a few moments, so that's just personal talent and charisma. And the visuals were very nicely done, plus the costuming and production detail was excellent. That's about the best I can say for that. I guess I was just expecting more.

: I can see your problem with the first two, but what was wrong with GHOST WORLD? I thought that movie was awesome. Probably some of Steve Buscemi's best work there...
