All I can say is "Wow" on some of those casts

First of all, I'd like to point out to the person who started this quiz that the "New Kids" reference in Mallrats was NOT cut out of the final print. It's in the fucking movie. You screwed up.

Now, I just want to laugh at some of the casting possibilities for Kevin's films:

Fucking Jenny McCarthy? A fucking Playboy model with giant fake titties hanging out at a mall and dating someone like T.S. or Brodie? Give me a break? Too much of a Barbie doll. That is the kind of retarted thinking that would exist at the studios circa 1994, though. Even in the part of Gwen, she just couldn't possibly strike me as a mall chick.

The same thinking must've gone into the incredibly bizarre cast of Barrymore, Schwimmer, and Stewart for Chasing Amy. Holy shit! I can't stop laughing at this concept. Just to let you know how silly I find this, Drew Barrymore actually makes a hell of a lot more sense than even the other two, and that's not saying much! But Jon Stewart doing the dramatic, angry shit that Jason Lee does so well in that film? I absolutely love Jon, but he's a comedian, not a dramatic actor. Can you picture him screaming at Holden about how "the bitch might be a bigger germ factory than that monkey in "Outbreak"? And a whiny bastard like Schwimmer as Holden? No. Uhh uh.

Steve Zahn for the role of Brodie in Mallrats is hard to imagine, too. Zahn is a funny guy, especially in "That Thing You Do", but I can't imagine him playing Brodie with the angry, acerbic wit that Lee displays. He should've played Quint. Then again, a lot of guys could've played Quint better than London.

A few of the possibilities are interesting, though. I think Emma Thompson in the role of Bethany would've been interesting, although that would've certainly made Bethany an older woman. And Sam Jackson as Rufus sounds great. Nothing against Rock, he did a fine job. I'm just a big fan of Sam's and I think he could've played the role superbly, just like he plays everything else superbly. Also, Parker Posey as Renee is a pretty cool idea. She's really funny and I could see her playing the part of Lee's girlfriend: she seems like she'd have made a good match for him. Plus, I have no doubt she could've handled the dialogue better than Daugherty did, especially the scene in the elevator.
