There was talk on the board a little while ago about how Signs had ripped things off from other movies, well i remembered another movie which it borrowed some ideas. Day of the Triffids.
If you havent seen it its great. Its about a bunch of aliens that look like trees, that blind everyone on earth bar a few with a bright green light, then proceed to murder all the innocent blind people. Signs borrowed the way to murder the aliens. Simply spray them with Salt Water and they begin to melt (very similar to the witch in the wizard of oz)
