I read this and I suddenly had an old Warner Bros. cartoon vision of someone stuffing Kevin full of TNT and dropping a match down his throat.
I can't answer your real question, nor can Kevin really. I mean, I think he would keep doing what he does today, pluging along, making movies and reading the board and stuff, but if he does suddenly find himself a mainstream star, it's likely to change his schedule in ways Man was not meant to know. Things like needing to schedule sex with his wife a month in advanced and shit like that.
Looking at it like that, I doubt that Kevin would ever get there, not that he doesn't have the talent for it, but because there are things more important in his life so he'll never go completely celebrity like that.
Besides, everyone already knows the name Kevin Smith. He's that guy who played Ares on Xena, wasn't he?
