Joey is playing the Alyssa charcter from Chasing Amy in J&SBSB. Renee Humphries isn't necessarily playing the part of Trish from Mallrats, which is albeit a little confusing, and Renne says to Joey (Alyssa), "I can't believe you ever went out with Holden.", which proves it's Alyssa, not Gwen. And they are talking about the "Bluntman & Chronic" movie. Everyone is coming out of the theater from that movie, which by the way, is based on the comic book that Holden & Banky wrote in Chasing Amy.
