For legal reasons they are not allowed to use the exact appearance of the actors in the movies. They can make them look somewhat similar but not EXACTLY. Thats why the cartoon characters looked so different. This some legal stuff is the reason the Egon picture you see looks the way it does. But if you'll look closely you'll see that his suit's collar is a kakhi/beige color. In the cartoon their suits were multicolored.
