whats the legal standing on turning a book into a film. Its something I have wanted to do for a long time yet dont really know what I should do about it. I would distibute it locally and self fund it - like with all my other stuff, but would this be illigal if it was based on a book? Also - I heard that if a writer is dead for so long than there is no copyright - whats the verdict?
