Hugh Grant in Bridget Jones's Diary wasn't all that bad. As far as Notting Hill, well that's Julia Roberts more than anything else.

As for myself, there is a new movie in limited release called "The Quiet American" starring Michael Caine and Brendan Fraser. Story is set in 1950's Vietnam, just as the Americans were entering the fight. The two are bickering over a beautiful Vietnamese lady who has had encounters with both. We find out Brendan is heading up a secret CIA front disguised as a Medical Aid organization. Explosives are passing through to support the Democractic South versus the Communist North Vietnam.

The dramatic ending has Brendan's character dying in a scheme, partially involving Michael Caine, when the Vietnamese find out Brendan's true identity. Michael invite Brendan's character to dinner, only to be killed by Michael's Vietnamese contact. Michael likes Vietnam so much, he doesn't want to leave. With Brendan out of the way, Michael has the beautiful Vietnamese lady all to himself.

Tragic, the plot is rather obvious, but good viewing...
