: I think Rocky Horror's a great movie, and a couple of people I know
: do, too, and I pretty much hate the way most people react to it.

Ditto. But usually, if I just say "I like THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW", people assume that means that I dress up and go to midnight showings and talk back to the screen. When I say that I actually like the film, neither the dressup crowd nor the anti-RHPS crowd understands.

: I was
: actually introduced to it by my parents when I was 11. They tried to
: get me to watch it earlier, but I wouldn't, 'cause I thought it'd be scary.

That's actually not too far off from my own experience.

: As for the Doom Generation, yikes!

I won't go into why I like it, 'cause it's not worth the time and 'cause I know I'm not gonna sway anyone's opinion. I'll just say that it didn't click for me until I ceased taking it seriously. Once I started viewing it the same way I'd view, say, RHPS, it was fun. Not to mention, the production designer deserves a medal.

It seems like most of the people I know who dislike it are much bigger fans of film than I am (i.e. virtually anyone at this board). I think it's easier to swallow when your standards are as far from lofty as they can get. You want a cinematic masterpiece, Gregg Araki is NOT your man.
