I couldn't name one decent director who is just in it for the money, I'm sure its nice to earn a shit load for doing something that you love doing, but I think the key phrase there is "doing something that you love doing", any director just directing to earn money is gonna be pulled apart pretty quickly. If Kevin wanted to just make money he could just run off and make 2 or 3 generic teen comedys, seen it all before horror movies and shoddy action flicks a year. And as for J&SBSB, that was the fans, certainly more than nearly any other director in history has done for his or her fans anyway.
