Here's this guy who got demonized his entire adult life for making silly fun game shows, made out to be the devil incarnate for it... but if he had been going around offing foreigners for the CIA, he would've been (at least in some small circles) a national hero.

Though in the logic of the story, he was doing his killings mainly when accompanying people out on dates, just like the Berlin fiasco...

And as for the other shows, except in the case of the Gong Show, which he hosted (which they taped a week or two weeks worth of in one day) being an executive producer of a game show, after everything's in place and the whole deal's rolling, it can become kind of a hands-off deal with producers under you doing most of the grunt work and Chuck just sort of... overseeing. Leaving him with a lot of spare time to kill, pardon the wordplay.
