and its only mine....
but i was never into rollins. sure black flag was great etc. but there was always something about him that bugged the shit outta me. a few friends of mine loved him so i was asked to go see him perform his spoken word and i said "yeah sure why not". i have always been up to seeing someone i dont like to see if my mind will be changed. i had no idea what to expect with this as ive really only gone to see comdians at shows like this.
i had the BEST time!! he spoke nonstop for 3 hours on political shit and everything else under the sun. he was hysterical (but yet not a comedian)and he so many valid and great points and everything just came together in the end. i left there a changed woman. i was now a big fan of rollins!!!
i then saw him when the rollins band toured but i didnt have as much fun. sure i like that kind of music but i was just not having a good time. maybe i was pmsing, maybe its cause i was with my boyfriend at the time....who knows.
rollins actually just came through with his spoken word (either just did or is about too) but unfortuantly i cant spend the money. unless its free wherever im going, i cant afford it. i wish i could catch him this time around. o well.
but i just watched the chase over the weekend again. it brought back good memories of his spoken word show. im very glad i went and got to experience it.

: : : 10. henry rollins....spoken word or singing?
: : ~~spoken

: I found it intriguing that so many folks would choose Henry's spoken word stuff over his singing. Don't get me wrong. I like the spoken word stuff. But man I saw him at Irving Plaza when he was in Black Flag. It's a show I'll never forget. Henry clad only in a pair of gym shorts, barefoot, hair down to the middle of his back, writhing and howling. Talk about high energy. For me, it's singing hands down. It may be presumptuous of me, but are folks comparing his newer music to his spoken word stuff. Just an opinion. What do I know?
