: Is it as fun as the plain old Sims or better? I got a test version way back when and I couldn't load it into my crappy computer for some odd reason.

Better in some ways, worse in others. It's great to visit other houses that users built and only have one sim to worry about. It's fun when you get a bunch of people doing the same thing together. Also, you don't have to build a house or even live anywhere to play. You're usually better off moving in with someone else because the more people live in a house, the more benefits the house has. The real money in TSO is having (or living in) a house that gets a lot of visitors.
The cons: You can't click that arrow to make things go faster, since everyone's in real time. That makes skill building go very slow. Also making money sometimes is a very slow process. But all in all, I'd say the pros outweigh the cons, if you like other people. Also, I usually play on my 1700 mhz machine but my laptop is a 366 and can handle the game as long as I'm not in a house with a lot of people.
