The point I like best in this post is when Malcomb (a) brings me down to earth (us writers with ego all need this sometime in our lives) and (b) he's right...Why wouldn't someone in the industry want to post on this site?? Are the fans saying that this site is too good for the likes of me?? That all but judges ever person posting here a loser.
Seriously, my involvement on 28 Days Later was the best experience of my life. In fact, I wished I had worked as a craftie!! It would've been far less stressful than the 12 hour a day crap I had to go through. But nothing is more pleasurable than seeing something you wrote on paper get put on the big screen. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed with the outcome but for all of us it was our first attempt at a horror anything. Wonderfully enough 80% of my screenplay ended up on screen. And for that I regret. The movie has a weak ending that I'm sure will get ripped to shreds on sites like this one[spoiler alert: in the original draft, the leading man gets mistaken for a zombie/ebola vampire and chopped to bits... but I changed it after fearing that it would never get green lit from anyone). But when it comes out, see it anyways regardless of the crap ending! The main reason I wrote it was because I want to see zombie flicks make a come back and that is all up to you! Honestly, one of the reasons I even come to sites like this one is out of hope that I can get cult fans (who make or break these movies) to pay some of their hard earned dollars to see this thing! No better advertisement than word of mouth and, yes, that's shameless self-promotion.
And I agree, Drawing Flies maybe would be a better target.
