: On the subject of hitch-hikers I heard that the major reason why a possible film has not come about so far is because most of the major film studios were not keen on having an Enlgishman (Arthur) as the main character. You'll find that most writers hate the idea of having their work re-written and apparently he would not agree to any film studio changing Arthur's nationality. I really don't think the film would sell to American audiences due to the "Englishness" of most of the material, most of the Krikkit stuff would go straight over a lot of peoples heads!
