In Reply to: Question for Kevin about writing and agents... posted by RedX on March 17, 2003 at 13:43:36:
: First off, I'm a big fan of your movie but I'm not gonna' sit here and suck up by telling you all that BS about how much I admire you and stuff.
: Anyway, I saw "An Evening With Kevin Smith" laughed my ass off, learned some stuff, etc. I took in your ideas about getting money with credit card frauds and all that good stuff.
: Now, on to my question. I'm a writer and I've written mostly short stories, poetry, fiction, news articles, etc. However, a friend of mine told me that I should write a movie so I could put my friends in it.
>>>>> Funny line. You probably didn't mean to accuse Kevin of making movies to put his friends in it, but it made me laugh. Cuz he puts his friends in his movies.
So, I started writing it. Now, I'm not an idiot some I'm not gonna' post the basic idea of the screneplay on this board.
: My question is: Where do I find an agent? I've heard that you can't submit un-solicited material or risk your idea being taken. Now, I do plan on copy writing it and all that good stuff.
: Do I even really need an agent? If so, where can I find one that won't take advantage of me?
: I guess thats it. Can't wait to see "Jersey Girl".
