---allowing for the suspense to build slower. The fact is that Jack didn't just "go insane". The hotel took over and used him for what they intended to accomplish. So his "sane" moments are when the hotel was leaving him alone. I like them both, but I thought the remake did better to tell the whole story. And the reason they didn't use the line "Here's Johnny" in the remake, is because it wasn't part of the book. He never said that. I think it's great how everyone can interpret and appreciate the same things so differently. Makes life more interesting.
