I'm from Belleville NJ and currently working on a short romantic comedy to be shot in New Jersey, called "Chance Encounter". I watched the DVD "An evening with Kevin Smith", and I thought it was inspiring. I really thought that your candidness was refreshing. You make the process of filmmaking seem less intimidating. After reading your profile on the book, My First Movie", featuring 20 celebrated filmmakers about their first efforts, I was curious to find out more about what was it that drove you and kept you going to finish Clerks. I guess I'm looking to see if those who are destined to fulfill their dreams have a common thread. Would you agree that it's like you can't see yourself doing anything else? I'm not a 9-5 job type of person, though I have the right job, the wife and daughter, the house in the suburbs, that urge to make movies is there. It's not even about money, it's about self-fulfillment. (Ok maybe it has to do a little about financial stability.) Anyway, whether you answer or not. Thank you!
