I was thinking the same thing at one point. I was wondering if Julianne Moore was unhappy and if so, why? When she kissed the girl and was overwhelmed by it, I thought "Oh, so she's not feeling loved." But John C. Reilly's character was totally in love with her and everything. Just makes me think that all of the characters were supposed to be incapable of love.

I thought Ed Harris did a decent job but a better actor for the role could've been found. His quote was something about after the party there would still be "the hours" afterwards of different annoying things....
