---Not all people learn these laws in school. In highschool you have to take it as an elective, and only engineers, life science, and teachers have to take basic physics in college so there's a good chance that most of the general population is not privy to this information.

---I appreciate that. One other thing I can think of is testimonials. For a person to hear that a quick fix worked well for others, it's very tempting to try it on their own even if their gut tells them different. Some people will try anything.
