: But I was just thinking, have there ever been rumors of a Simpsons movie? Just seems like any successful show gets a movie these days and the Simpsons never has.

I've always thought the simpsons held movie potential. The characters are developed enough, theres a huge following and the simpsons are just kick ass. Granted, I never liked the period of catch phrases (aye, Carumba) and all that shit. But I think they are very bankable, which is a big factor in a hollywood movie. Animated series generally have a rough time in movies. South Park was OK, but after you get over the shock of cartoon children saying "fuck" and cartoony dicks on the screen, it isn't much. I think the big win for a simpsons movie is the characters. By far. Every one knows Homer and all the characters which is a big plus in a movie. Character development eats up alot of time. The show in my opinion is still funny and I would love to see it keep going for alot longer. but if it were to die out, I would think a celluloid tribute would be the most fitting 21 gun salute a series could have. (also, if there is a contract for 2, there will probablt be 3, its all about trilogies.)

side note. Anyone hear of a way to get the simpsons on DVD or VHS. They are going to milk us for every penny I suppose. Just like the lovely Lucas people. Sell a trilogy, update it for special release about 500 times and sell a new release for each one. Mo'money! Mo' Money! Mo Money! (sorry about the In Living Color tribute. Although J.Lo was on in Living Color and Affleck is married to her and Affleck and Kevin are buds. So in a round about way, its relevant.)
