I love this movie too. I think that it was groundbreaking and so opulent to the senses -- I mean you have to watch it 6 or 7 times before you can fully see everything that was going on. And it was almost too damn original -- too radical for the Oscars (and also not enough money to woo all the voters -- you know the Oscars is all about the money, right?) I know the film re-canned a lot of old songs, but it put such a good spin on them (I think that was done a lot in part to Baz and Slim) -- but the choreography worked so well with it, too. How could you not watch the "Roxanne" act and not be moved (actually, I think that song/dance was the best part of the movie. It was so raw and really brought out the darker tones and emotion of the movie so well)
