Just an innocent question

Hi everyone-
I will admit first and foremost I'm fairly new with this board. I have not posted very much, for several reasons. Lately I have been reading a lot of negative remarks toward "newbies" and I guess I'm just slightly confused- I'm sure a regular group posts here and its always a little weird when someone new emerges- or when hordes of new people start leaving irrelevant notes here and there. But anyway my question: What, exactly, makes one not a newbie and a decent, respectable poster?
