I think this is a touch cynical. There doesn't seem to be any middle ground in this debate. We're either very cynical, painting the US as an Imperilist Invader on a mission to create a new world order, or we're overjoyed that the good old Western boys have liberated those poor Iraqi's. Alright, there are problems with the US military being in Iraq - the war wasn't very well thought out, and there are going to be serious consequences for Middle East stability if they stay there too long. And yes, we ought to be nervous about Bush's plans for the world. But generally, this is a good day for the Iraqi people - the new system of government HAS to be better than Saddam and his torture chambers, and if it's managed well the whole thing may yet come off as a success - or at least not a major cock up.

I'm glad they won the war. I'm much more interested to see if they win the peace.
