Get ready for the sulfur to rain down.

: ..and the Iraqis should enjoy the moment to the fullest. I'm actually happy for them.

: This is a time we must look and think: What did we really do there? It's easy to impair your vision of what the US Govt. was really after in Iraq when there is happiness all over the air waves. When we see who ends up with what cards (who has the oil, whos getting the oil. what govt. is set up, where other countries stand, etc), It'll be more clear if Mr. Bush was pulling a fast one on us the whole time, or really intended on liberating the people (and winning votes for 2004). Frankly, only the closest of the close to the president know what's what in Iraq, so forming any opinion other than 'let's wait and see' as the American public isn't doing and automaitcally jumping for joy that we "won" (we haven't officially won anything yet, by the way) is a bit unfounded.

You're exactly right. Nothing has been won yet. And your "wait and see" attitude is exactly the attitude we need right now. It's a happy day for the Iraqi people in Baghdad. Be happy for them. What awaits them in the future (tyrannical ruler, U.S. taking advantage, or simply sticking to the outline of the mission and actually liberating them) is yet to be seen. And no one can do anything but speculate. And in the past few weeks, it has become obvious that speculate = hate to many people. If we could all sit back, drink a cold one, and stop bitching at each other about what we think *might* happen in the future, the world would be even better.

Now how 'bout a toast to citizens in Baghdad. The sooner Baghdad is "toppled" or "taken" the sooner the civillians will stop suffering from the ills of war.
