Even though I've lurked off and on for a while I just recently figured how how this format works exactly.

: Actually, I don't come around much largely due to the format of this board. I feel as though many problems, including the ones you are talking about, would be eased if it were organized like some other forums (dv.com's forum pops into mind).

: These forums have specific sections and each new thread or reply to a thread brings that discussion to the top of that section. There could be a "movies" section (or even more specific ones, eg, "Mallrats," "Dogma," etc), a "comics" section, a newbie area, an off-topic area, etc. You could corral the trouble-makers, newbies, etc, into their own playgrounds, and choose to join in if you want to, or be able to ignore it if not. The organized forums I've been to seem to allow for a more peaceful coexistence among all types: newbies, oldsters, idiots, geeks, hipsters, etc...

: I'm not trying to come on down from high and tell anyone how to run this board. There are positive aspects to the current format -- it's more off the cuff, more loose, more chatty; but, obviously, those aspects also have their own dangers. I just prefer a more structured format, personally -- I mean, god forbid you ask a question right before a stream of people show up and start a poll or something...some things just get lost in the shuffle.

: Luck for me, though, I did stop by the other day and had the chance to ask Kevin a question. I stopped being starstruck long ago, but it was great to see the guy fielding all kinds of questions from his fans (and would Michael Bay ever say, "I'm gonna go take a dump and then come answer some questions"?)

: Just my 2-cents.
