Or at least, that's been my experience of Howard Stern. They slash the hell out of the E! show to fit some whacked out notion of propriety. Actually, they've been censoring the radio show fairly vigorously lately, as well... huge chunks of the show go missing from time to time. That said, I still think Howard Stern is (usually) an outstandingly good interviewer... mostly because it seems like -so- many interviewers these days are terrified of offending their guest/target/victim/interviewee.

In interviews with Jim Carey, he usually seems to use humor to evade direct questions, but he was strangely forthright this time, I thought. It was still a pretty funny interview, though.
