So, in that sense, I'm already in that situation and make that choice every day that I show up for work.

The ratio was pretty even, although the kind of lessons I learned were different for each one. My mother was far more intelligent and practical. She'd teach me things like how to make a fire. My father would demontrate why it's bad to roll around, naked, on a bed of hot coals. Both lessons are important and useful.

Don't roll around, naked, on a bed of hot coals!
