Yeah, like the Lakers; I don't know how often someone other than Kobe or Shaq got a double double. Maybe Derek Fisher or Devean George got one this year, but not often. For the Mavericks, I think Bradley had one or two, Raef had 5 or 6, Eddie has had a couple, I think even Adrain Griffen got him one. Did you hear Nick's comment tonight on TNT?
Ernie Johnson: How has the gameplan for your team changed with Dirk Nowitzki out?
Nick Van Exel: Well, without Dirk we're a great defensive team.
Good natured laughing follows, but he is right. Dirk's idea of man to man defense is, "when I get beat, make sure I fould him before he gets the shot up". Hence, the adoption of the Zone Defense. We have a few people that can play solid D, (Raja, Finley, Najera, Griffen), but if we went with 3 or 4 of them, we would not have the potent offense. You can't really have both.

: Best. Comment. Ever.
: What I meant by key is that I don't see Nash, Nowitski, Najera or Lafrentz as role players. All four of them are top dogs. Sure, Najera and Lafrentz are probably just playing roles now, but can easily step up. Basically, they're not one-dimensional.
: "MAVS CAN'T PLAY DEFENSE!" Last time I checked, the object of the game is to win. The Mavs won 60 games (I think) with offense, so fuck defense!
