I remember in the 80's growing up, the biggest thing I had to worry about was getting "Stickers" in my feet from walking barefoot in the yard. Never really worried about much else. Of course, my father was a cop in the Air Force and I lived a pretty guarded life environmentally. LOL

: ..."is that kids stay kids for less long, these days."...but I think also one of the reasons why thats true, is that people expect kids to be more grown up than they are these days. Theres so many things to worry about as a parent - drugs, strangers, sex, to name but a few - that you can go overboard trying to educate your child in an effort to protect them. Also on the other hand, our generation isn't very disciplined, and as parents seem to be younger and younger, children seem to be treated as more of a friend, than having an adult to child relationship. Seemingly unimportant stuff like allowing bad language to slip by un-noticed and letting 6 year old girls wear crop tops and make up I think is wrong.
: My son is 5 in two weeks time and he plays on his bike with his friends all day getting dirty and making noise just like 5 year old boys should - I loved my childhood, and I hope his continues to be as innocent and carefree as it can be for as long as possible, theres plenty of time to be a grown up and worry about shit when you're much older.
