OK, my take on that.

: I have been more curious to take up smoking and marijuana use since all the talk about it! all the ads, all the DARE programs. totally reverse psychology

OK, for one - don't smoke. Seriously. This is coming from a daily and regular smoker. We don't do it because we enjoy it, we do it because we're addicted. We also enjoy it because we're addicted, but that's sort of beside the point. They make your clothes smell bad, they make you far more susceptible to illness, and overall, they suck.
So, that's that.

As far as smoking weed... that's a choice you have to make on your own. If you truly are tempted, I suggest you try it once. That way, you won't have to wonder anymore; otherwise, it'll drive you nuts. If you enjoy it, fine, but make sure to keep your usage of it within reason, same as you would with alcohol. If you don't think you can exercise restraint, then don't do either.
Personally, I used to be completely sober. I remained so until I was 18. I watched my friends drink, and I watched them smoke. Based on that information, I made my decision; when they were drunk, they acted like imbeciles, and when they were stoned, they were laid back, funny, and generally pleasant to be around.
