Dear Kevin and family,

I know all too well what you are going through right now. I lost my father suddenly less than two years ago. He was in the hospital, but he was supposed to come home the morning he passed away.

I can empathize with the pain you are feeling, and I wish upon wish that no one ever had to feel it. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this very difficult and emotional time.

I'm enclosing a poem I wrote for my family the Christmas after my Dad passed. I hope you will find it encouraging.

He’s Smiling, Too
By Amanda Lear

Our hearts are all heavy
As we assemble this year.
As we feast at the table,
Our eyes fill with tears.

Someone is missing,
Though he’s not far away.
And he’s looking down on us
As we live day by day.

He knows when we’re smiling,
For he’s smiling, too.
‘Cause when you’re in Heaven,
That’s all you can do.

In Heaven, he’s singing.
He’s praising the Lord,
With body brand new,
And ailments all cured.

He’s talking with Jesus,
And holding His hand.
On the banks of the Jordan,
He now does stand.

He’s waiting to meet us.
He can’t wait to share
All the beauty of Heaven
With which nothing can compare.

And although we miss him,
And our hearts are sore,
We must always remember,
His life is not o’er.

He’s safe up in Heaven,
Free from all pain.
And some day soon,
We’ll see him again.
