: This pole has one very important *key* premise - the choices are MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE. That means if you chose one you will NEVER be able to have the other. No loopholes. Having said that, here goes:
: 1. Would you rather be wealthy and stupid - OR - poor and intelligent? Why?
Poor and intelligent. Stupid people piss me off, and what's the point of having all that wealth if you're not smart enough to appreciate it, and use it wisely? Besides, I am fairly poor at the moment, and it's not a bad way to live.
: 2. If you could only have ONE of these accomplishments in your life: Would you rather be an olympic gold medalist at 20 - OR - a Nobel prize winner at 75? Why?
Nobel prize. The feeling of accomplishment that comes from having your life's work recognized and appreciated is more important to me than knowing that I am probably the very best at what I do for the time my body is able to handle it. I think I'm more of an intellectual than a physical guy, anyway.
: 3. Would you rather have world peace at the expense of the lives of 1/3 of the Earth's population - OR - an end to all abortions everywhere with the full knowledge that those children will grow up only to die in endless wars arround the world? Why?
Probably world peace, but only because I think the Earth is far too overpopulated. However, I wouldn't make a decision over the life and death of anyone other than myself. And when you say abortion, what does that entail? 2-nd trimester? Partial birth? Or do you consider the morning-after pill abortion? It's a fuzzy area, and I wouldn't know where to draw the line betweens a woman's right to choose and an embryo's right to come full term.
: 4. Elvis - OR - The Beatles?
No contest. The Beatles. Elvis was good- possibly the best at what he did, but The Beatles were far more in tune with the spirit of the day, and their songs still have impact today, they are still relevant; I don't mean just those songs about love and hardship, but almost everything the wrote is not out of place in my CD player, regardless of the next CD over. Dig?
