: thoughts.
: OK, as most of you should know by now, I recently sent out an e-mail to abou 150 VA board memebers, asking them to wrtie letters to Kevin and his family regarding the passing of Kevin's dad. A lot of the e-mails came back as unsendable(that a word?), and I have horrible luck with computers, so if you did not recieve one I'll reprint the message down below. As of tonight I have recieved about 20 or so e-mails to Kevin and his family and many others on opinions of doing this. While some seemed to be in support of this idea, many others found the messages we left for Kevin under his post to be more than adequite. Ming did send me an e-mail saying he would help us out, so no problem in that field. Lynch (thank you both for the e-mails by the way, very much appreciated that) was rather iffy on the whole idea.
: So what are your thoughts? Personally, I'm mixed and can go either way. I think its a pretty nice idea, but if the the majority of people don't seem to be into it, then there is no point. I read a wonderful idea which suggested I put all the letters in a scrapebook/nice binding. I'm totally willing to put money and more time into it, but it wouldn't reach Kevin for quite a while.
: Like I said, I'll sway with the majority. You guys want to continue with it, I'll do my part. But if people don't think its right, I should know pretty soon.
: Heres my original message:

: Dear members of the VA board,
: This e-mail is in regard to the passing of Kevin Smith’s father. We all were stunned and saddened at the sudden loss last week, and we showed that in the messages we left for Kevin and his family, 153 posts of well wishes, prayers, poems and stories. Kevin has always been the kind of person who goes the extra mile for his fans (the fact that he would alert us on the passing of his dad on the day it occurred, says it all right there), and now I think its time we go the extra mile for him.
: What I would like if possible is for everyone to send me back an e-mail with a message for Kevin and his family. It can be extended song/poetry lyrics, stories you didn’t have time to post or more messages of prayers and whatever you personally like to say to them. The only thing I ask is that it not contain pictures. If you would like to send me the exact message you posted on the board, that is of course fine.
: What I plan to do with all the emails I receive is to send them to Ming or some other View Askew worker in a bulk e-mail, with hopes that the messages will be given to Kevin and his family either on printed pages, or in a personal e-mail to Kevin. While I have not contacted Ming yet, I’m sure he would help us out. Please rest assured that I will not be reading these e-mails if for whatever reason personal information is enclosed. Feel free to sign your name as you please.
: I’m sending this e-mail to about 150 people who post on the View Askew web board. Time constraints kept me from sending it to more. I ask you that any friend or family member you know that is a fan of Kevins and would like to send him a letter, by all means please pass this on.
: I would love to have all the letters to me by Thursday afternoon at the latest, with hopes I will be sending them off to Ming on either Friday night or early Saturday. I do apologize for sending this e-mail so late, but time constraints held me back. If for whatever reason you need more time, please e-mail and we can work something out.
: If you need to contact me or have any questions, my screen name is whynotsmile99 or you can e-mail me at jdrubin@quackquack.com (my main e-mail) or jdrubin000@hotmail.com, which I created especially for this.
: It is a small deed to commit to for a man whom has done so much for his fans. Any regards and well wishes are sure to be appreciated by the Smith family, and any are welcome.
: Thank you and take care
