I can't ever do it. Mainly I go based upon whether it looks right or not...but let me tell you, run a spell check on a document of mine and that is the mistake that pops up the most.
Plus, I have a real problem spelling "definitely" so often I just (if I'm e-mailing or posting and too lazy to spell check) abbreviate it to "def."
