hello kevin...I came to your site because I love A Man for all seasons...was reading user comments on the IMDB, and saw that someone said they saw the movie based on your recommendation...so,I read your thoughts on it, and was amazed to find your views were "Excellent...they exactly coincide with my own" I agree that the thrill you get from the movie is based on the dialogue...years ago, I bought what I thought was the music soundtrack to it...it came on 2 lps, and although there is a little music on it, the record is really the whole spoken dialogue of the movie!Initially, I was disappointed that so little music was on it, as I loved the opening theme (That
starts when the messenger runs with the message to More) and the theme that plays when the king arrives at More's house...but as I listened the whole recording, I found myself enthralled by the words themselves...replaying the movie in my mind, almost like it were a radio play... never did find a music soundtrack...anyway, here's a funny aside..I have a close friend who also loves this movie, and a brother who introduced me to it...we have discussed it many times...when More is about to be executed, he says that God would never refuse" one who is so blithe to go to him."...I had always thought, as did my friend and brother, that the line was "one who is so blind to go to him"(I had to check it in the stage version)...needless to say, this revelation sent us scurrying to the movie again, to reinterpret More's motives, but we were all satisfied again...it works either way...anyway I'm just really thrilled to hear your thoughts on a movie that meant so much to me and several people i know.thanx, and keep up the good work! sincerely, mchugh
