: I actually just got Paths Of Glory. It was very darkly funny.

-Oh yeah. When the priest gets punched, I laugh every time.

I've wanted to know though, if The Shining comes in widescreen.

-Nope.

All I can find is FULL, even on DVD.

-2001 and Barry Lyndon are the only true widescreen formatted ones. I have heard interviews with Kubrick where he explained why. Basically, the first reason is that he didn't want his work hacked apart when it was transferred to TV, so he went with the ratios TVs use. Secondly, artisticly, he didn't see the advantage. There will be a drawback no matter what ratio you decide to shoot with, there will always be more or less you could have shown, but it is the way you show what you can, in the format that is the true art. Like widescreen has less up/down, and 4:3 has less left/right.

Also, got The Killing a few weeks ago. From what I've heard, it's non linear format was a major influence on Reservoir Dogs.

-Yep. I have heard that too.
