I always figured a black comedy as something that is supposed to be funny, but with a dark edge, funny on a down note. Such as: Office Space, Fargo, The Big Lebowski, Beetlejuice, Heathers, The 'Burbs, any Monty Python movie, Novocaine, Welcome to the Dollhouse, Throw Momma from the Train, (the hideously offensive) Pink Flamingos, Sweet and Lowdown, hell, Clerks qualifies (though it would have much more so with the original ending). And those are just a few.
