In some of the press for League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Sean Connery said that he passed up on Lord of the Rings because he didn't understand it and he passed on The Matrix, twice, because he didn't understand it. He then said he didn't understand LXG, but he wasn't going to pass on another one because he didn't understand it.
I know about Lord of the Rings. He was the first choice for Saruman(Sarumon? I don't read the books) and passed on it because he wasn't a fan of the books and understood that it was an epic that needed to be told by somebody who appreciated the source material. And thus came Christopher Lee, a major Tolkien nutso.
But aside from his blurb, I hadn't heard anything about him The Matrix. Anybody have more info on this? I would assume he was wanted for Agent Smith, but I have a hard time thinking of Sean Connery doing wire fu. Or am I completely off and he was going to be The Architect or Cypher or something? Please, if you have the info, share it.
